KPD investigators scour drives for evidence in search of missing woman [Kilgore News Herald, Texas]

(Kilgore News Herald (TX) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Oct. 08--Kilgore investigators have obtained disturbing digital evidence of multiple crimes and, they suspect, clues in their ongoing investigation into the abduction and likely murder of Christina Rae Davison.

Two portable storage drives were passed from hand-tohand and finally to Kilgore Police Department; two subsequent search warrants permitted detectives to examine the video files, images and other data they contained.

According to investigators, the first device (a thumb drive) contained no traces of Davison but did include evidence of prior offenses, including prostitution. According to a Drug Enforcement Agency informant -- now dead -- the second storage unit (a 64-gigabyte flash drive) likely contained images of Davison and scenes of sexual assaults.

There have been no significant developments in the Davison investigation since the files on the second of the two drives were analyzed, KPD Assistant Chief Roman Roberson confirmed Tuesday.

Beyond that, as the investigation continues, "We're not going to comment or add any information on anything to do with that search warrant," he said.

KPD's investigation into the Davison's disappearance began May 17. The 43-yearold woman was last heard from at 9:13 p.m. Friday, May 16, and reported missing when she did not show up for work the next morning -- investigators found evidence of a struggle in her apartment. The same morning, Davison's discarded purse was found alongside Loop 390 in Marshall.

Eventually, the local investigators named Davison's common-law husband, Craig Deallen Davison, as a "person of interest" in the case. Arrested July 29 in a separate assault investigation out of Harrison County, Davison was ultimately released Sept. 24 due to lack of evidence following the February incident.

In his Affidavit for Search Warrant, filed with the district clerk Sept. 23, KPD Det. John Rowe noted Christina Davison left her husband in late winter.

Fleeing after the alleged assault in February, the woman sought "to leave physical and emotional abuse and start a new life," Rowe reported. "Christina moved from the Hallsville area to Kilgore, obtained a new job, apartment, and vehicle ... Christina told her family, friends, and co-workerse she was afraid of Craig Davison, and if he found her he would hurt her.

"Shortly before her disappearance Christina revealed to relatives and co-workers Craig had discovered where she was living and she was afraid something bad would happen to her." According to Rowe, on Aug. 6 a KPD officer assigned to the DEA Tyler Task Force was contacted by a confidential source who passed on the first thumb drive, allegedly taken from Craig Davison's Hallsville-area home.

Logging the drive as evidence in the missing person case, on Aug. 11 Rowe obtained a search warrant to view the device's contents and observed "evidence of prior offenses, to wit, prostitution by Davison's ex-wife, in the state of Colorado," describing the man as the woman's trafficker or pimp.

The KPD / DEA task force officer's long-time informant passed on the second storage device on Aug. 15. The files included additional sexual scenes, he reported, saying he believed it contained images of the missing woman along with evidence of a crime against a different woman.

The informant committed suicide Aug. 25.

On Sept. 8, Rowe met with a third party who reportedly gave the device to the informant, one of several reportedly taken from Craig Davison's residence. Describing some of the drive's files, the source noted recognizing Christina Davison from media coverage of her disappearance.

According to the source, "the scenes and images were too disturbing to finish looking at all of the drive contents," Rowe reported.

The second device reportedly contains 33.1 gigabytes of data.

According to Rowe's affidavit to the 124th District Court, he "believes the portable drive contains evidence of Christina Davison being sexually assaulted by more than one person, and possibly images or videos of Prohibited Sexual Conduct (Incest) as defined by Texas Penal Code Sec. 25.02, committed by Craig Davison." ___ (c)2014 the Kilgore News Herald (Kilgore, Texas) Visit the Kilgore News Herald (Kilgore, Texas) at www.kilgorenewsherald.com Distributed by MCT Information Services
