Connecticut Dairy Queen Locations Affected By Data Breach [The Hartford Courant]

(Hartford Courant (CT) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Oct. 10--Dairy Queen, Inc. has announced a data breach that could expose the credit and bank card data of customers at numerous Dairy Queen locations around the country, including three in Connecticut.

"International Dairy Queen, Inc. recently learned of a possible malware intrusion that may have affected some payment cards at certain DQ® locations and one Orange Julius® location in the U.S.," President and Chief Executive Officer John Gainor said in a letter posted to the company's website. "Upon learning of the issue, we launched an extensive investigation and retained external forensic experts to help determine the facts." A list of the locations affected and the times of the intrusions has been posted to Dairy Queen's website. Dairy Queen locations in Enfield, Waterbury and South Windsor were hacked during different time periods in the month of August.

The affected systems contained customers' names, payment card numbers and expiration dates, but there is no evidence that other personal information, such as Social Security numbers, PINs or email addresses, were compromised, Gainor said.

"We encourage you to remain vigilant by reviewing your account statements and monitoring your free credit reports," he said. "If you believe your payment card may have been affected, contact your bank or payment card issuer immediately." Anyone with questions about the breach can call the company at 1-855-865-4456, Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Central Time.

The list of affected locations can be found here: http://www.dairyqueen.com/datasecurityincident/affected-stores.
