ICPI to Present at TRIECA Conference

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) HERNDON, Va., Oct. 10 -- The Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute issued the following news release: TRIECA is Ontario's premier stormwater and erosion and sediment control conference bringing together some of North America's leading experts, influential leaders and distinguished research partners in one event. Together these organizations have a defining role in shaping the future direction of the stormwater and erosion and sediment control industries.

During the conference Robert Bowers, ICPI's Director of Engineering, will be presenting a session entitled, "Full-scale Structural Testing and Development of Design Guidelines for Permeable Interlocking Concrete Pavement". The session will look at recent full-scale load testing that has been conducted at the University of California at Davis to develop, validate and better understand the structural behavior of Permeable Interlocking Concrete Pavement (PICP). A Heavy Vehicle Simulator was used to conduct accelerated load testing that measured the rutting, vertical stresses within the structure and deflections on an area consisting of three increasingly thicker pavement cross sections using open-graded aggregate bases and subbases over dry and saturated weak clay soil subgrades. These results were then applied to the mechanistic model to develop design charts for a range of soil stiffnesses for pavement design in the United States and Canada.

Learning Objectives 1 Identify site conditions that important to the structural design of permeable interlocking concrete pavement systems.

2 Recognize the different forms of distress that typically occur in heavily load permeable interlocking concrete pavement systems.

3 Use the structural design charts to select an appropriate base/subbase thickness for PICP systems based on project specific conditions.

The conference format includes two full days of concurrent speaker sessions with approximately twenty-four presentations in total over the course of the conference. Renowned speakers from throughout North America will present the latest technological innovations, case study findings, innovative solutions and academic research. In conjunction with the presentation sessions, the conference also includes an industry tradeshow providing delegates the opportunity to speak directly with representatives from a variety of leading industry organizations. Early Bird Registration will run until March 13, 2015. For additional information visit www.trieca.com.
