DMACC & Central Iowa Employers to Address Chronic Information Technology Worker Shortage

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ANKENY, Iowa, Oct. 13 -- Des Moines Area Community College issued the following news release: WHAT: Skilled Information Technology workers are in critically high demand across the country and in Central Iowa. As the economy grows and technology evolves, companies need IT workers trained in programming, network security, mobile development, web design and other IT application development/project related careers. The challenge is finding diverse, local professionals with these skills.

DMACC's IT faculty and staff are teaming up with the Chief Information Officers and IT executives from leading Central Iowa companies to provide new vision and strategy for educating and training local IT professionals. The initiative includes a new campaign to identify prospective students and increase the diversity of IT graduates in the local community. Some of the initial companies supporting this IT Industry Partnership with DMACC include Nationwide, Principal Financial Group, IBM, Microsoft, Alliance Technologies, GuideOne Insurance, Farmers Mutual Hail and Keyot. The Technology Association of Iowa and the Iowa Communications Alliance will also be represented.

WHY: Central Iowa organizations need a larger pool of diverse, qualified IT professionals to better compete and grow their operations. With the IT Industry Partnership, DMACC will be positioned to deliver targeted, high-quality education/training programs and become a premier provider of "business ready" IT workers to Iowa employers.
