United Arab Emirates : ETISALAT and ERICSSON signs agreement for RAN in DUBAI and AL AIN [TendersInfo (India)](TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Etisalat have signed a major agreement with Ericsson for expanding Etisalat's Radio Access Network (RAN) in Dubai and Al Ain, offering enhanced connectivity to customers in the area, with advanced mobile broadband service. Ericsson will be using its experience in ecology management services for disposal of the swapped network equipment in the most efficient and eco-friendly manner, as per the requirements of the EU Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive. Etisalat is to join hands with Ericsson's Ecology Management Programme's free take-back of decommissioned equipment. Nearly 95 percent of equipment is recovered through this initiative, with less than 5 percent going to landfill. Also, Etisalat and Ericsson have signed a memorandum of understanding aiming at strengthening support in using more advanced technology in the future, in accordance with Etisalat's mission to reduce the network's environmental impact.
