Shamrock Solutions Releases Compliance Agent To Secure Sensitive Personally Identifiable Information (SPII) in Perceptive Content

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Olathe, KS (PRWEB) October 17, 2014 According to the Identify Theft Resource Center (ITRC), there have been 589 significant data breaches so far in 2014, a 26.1% increase over last year's figure. The average breach costs the affected company or government entity between $1.5 and $1.8 million, not to mention the cost to its reputation and the harm done to people whose Sensitive Personally Identifiable Information (SPII) is exposed. To help organizations limit this costly risk, Shamrock Solutions, a leading provider of custom solutions and professional services for Perceptive Software products, is releasing Compliance Agent to complement the Perceptive Content (formerly ImageNow) system.

"SPII is best protected when there are multiple security layers between sensitive data and potential threats," said Shamrock founder and CEO Robert Albright. "This is what Compliance Agent will provide to ImageNow users, who will be able to safeguard information, support compliance and reduce the risk of a data breach." Compliance Agent provides the ability to secure at-rest files the moment they are scanned or electronically imported into Perceptive Content - something that was not possible previously. A similar approach also protects database files, ensuring that unauthorized parties are unable to view, copy or export content that may contain sensitive information.

In addition, Shamrock's Compliance Agent includes a powerful OCR engine that quickly searches millions of pages of historical content to find user-defined SPII, such as Social Security numbers. This process is also be applied to all new incoming content, ensuring day-forward processing of secure data. Without altering the file, Compliance Agent applies a redacted presentation layer to each SPII occurrence, ensuring that it is concealed from prying eyes. An administrator can differentiate privileges for authorized users so that they only see what they need to see.

For example, an HR generalist would be able to view Social Security numbers, while a student worker would not. As with many Shamrock solutions, Compliance Agent is a response to requests from customers who rely on the company for Perceptive Software professional services.

"Our OCR engine is more accurate and up to 12 times faster than other options, and can quickly search millions of pages to find and redact SPII," Albright said. "In addition to offering increased security during daily processes, the solution will also protect data when hospitals, government entities and colleges fulfill release of information requests."
