Oklahoma City bank marks 40 years with focus on technology [The Oklahoman, Oklahoma City]

(Daily Oklahoman (Oklahoma City) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Oct. 17--Q: You're celebrating the 40th birthday of Quail Creek Bank this year. What sets community banks apart? A: Community banks are commonly defined as locally owned, independent banks with assets less than $1 billion, and many people may be surprised to learn that they comprise nearly 95 percent of all banks in the U.S. In addition to focusing on the banking needs of local families and businesses, community banks tend to make strong community outreach efforts. It's important to help keep local communities vibrant and growing. The strength of our community relationships is reflected in our consistent ranking in the top 1 percent of the "Top Performing Banks" in the nation for the 11th straight year by the Independent Community Bankers of America.

Q: What is the biggest change you've seen in community banking since you joined Quail Creek Bank's Board of Directors? A: Mobile banking is becoming the fastest growing segment for U.S. consumers' preferred methods of banking, and Quail Creek Bank has been on the leading edge of this movement by recognizing the importance of technology development within our growth strategy.

Q: How are you reaching younger generations? A: Since today's students will be our next generation of customers, we are providing interactive financial literacy curriculum to 17 area schools through our exclusive sponsorship with Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University. Younger generations do banking differently than their parents and expect services available through their mobile devices, phone apps and even social media.

Q: Why does Quail Creek Bank have only one location? A: We're proud to be one of the largest banks in Oklahoma operating from only one location, and we view it as a testament to our customer relationships built over the past 40 years. Our dedication to our employees and the use of innovative banking services have supported our commitment to remain in one location. We recently have completed a 12,000-square-foot expansion, as well as a remodel of our existing building for future growth.
