Hon Hai chairman's office shot at, two suspects identified

(China Post (Taiwan) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Hon Hai Group chairman Terry Gou's office in the company's headquarters was reportedly fired at in April. Police so far have identified two suspects.

The suspects appear to have used a rifle, firing six shots that penetrated the windows located on the fifth floor of the building. The bullets reportedly broke through the glass by Gou's seat.

According to Hon Hai, the incident occurred during the holidays and Gou was not in Taiwan at the time. As the company's security patrols every hour, the bullet holes were quickly discovered and reported to the police. The broken glass was replaced with bulletproof glass the next day.

Experts pointed out that the attack was probably carried out by an experienced marksman, as the shots were fired from hundreds of meters away but were still centered accurately.

Despite the attack, Gou appears unruffled, as he has frequented public events in the past six months.

Earlier this month, Gou made a public appearance with his pregnant wife at a breast cancer charity event. No extra security was arranged, and Gou looked as confident and relaxed as usual.

In August, Gou made another public appearance to take on the Ice Bucket Challenge. Again, he showed no signs of worry. In June, Gou attended a shareholder conference and stayed for a record seven hours, answering all questions raised by shareholders.

Those who know Gou well pointed out that it is highly unlikely that Gou would be concerned by the attack. Gou, who runs the world's largest contract electronics maker, is known for his fearless character. He also believes that he is "doing the right thing." According to the police, Gou is not the only person in Hon Hai who has been threatened. Others such as vice chairman Dai Chengwu, Chief Financial Officer Huang Chiuling, who is known as "Iron Lady of Hon Hai," and the legal affairs chief and security consultants have all faced threats.

Police have established a special task force for the case, and so far have reportedly identified two suspects. The assault weapon has not been recovered as of yet.
