Fidelity Bank, Reroy Cables Bosses Crowned Marketers of the Year


(AllAfrica Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Two hardworking chief executives of Ghana were over the weekend crowned the Marketing Man and Marketing Woman of the Year 2013, by the prestigious Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG).

The Managing Director (MD) of Fidelity Bank, Edward Effah was adjudged the Marketing Man of the Year 2013, while the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Reroy Cables, Mrs. Kate Quartey Papafio was also crowned the Marketing Woman of Year 2013.



The awards was conferred on them at a colourful ceremony in Accra, last Saturday night, and was in recognition of the remarkable roles they have played in turning their respective companies around, and stimulating growth and development in the Ghanaian economy.

The two, among other things, received a plaque, an artwork and a week-end treat for two at the Africa Regent Hotel.


Speaking on behalf of the 45 award winners, Mr. Effah urged Ghanaians to believe in the entrepreneurial acumen of the youth.

According to him, we need to encourage and build Ghanaian businesses to contribute their quota to the development of the country.

Touching on the theme for this year's 25th National Marketing Performance Awards- '25 Years of Promoting Corporate Excellence: The Impact of CIMG Performance Awards', the National President of the CIMG, Dr. Mrs. Shola Safo-Duodu explained that the CIMG awards scheme had constantly and deliberately sought to support marketing practitioners as well as organisations to employ sound marketing principles which have resulted in the growth of businesses in the country.

She added: "Today, for instance, marketers have no choice but to embrace the social media and digital marketing in order to remain competitive.

The positive reaction to these changes over the past 25 years is what continues to make the awards scheme relevant and appealing to marketers and corporate Ghana".

Dr. Mrs. Safo-Duodu was quick to add that their quest to see institutions embrace modern, evolving and world class marketing practices has been the cornerstone of their policy regarding the awards scheme.

Consequently with the help of CIMG members and stakeholders, they have been sharpening and enhancing various aspects of the selection process as and when they are needed so that they can ensure that the best are recognized.

The Special Guest of Honour, who is also the President of the National House Chiefs, Naa Professor John S. Nabila noted: "25 years is quite a long time in the life of any human being.

"And to keep the awards scheme going for these 25 years with its attendant huge financial outlay means that the CIMG has been doing well and must be applauded for the good works".

That the scheme coming from a humble beginning has been getting better and better each year is a clear testimony that the institution which runs it is a progressive one, he stated.

Naa Professor Nabila implored: "This is what we need as a nation in order for us to keep moving on the path of success.

"If we should all endeavour to put into our various undertakings this attitude of positive thinking and approach our national life with the utmost dynamism, we shall, progress in the right direction.

The CIMG through the awards scheme has provided that we are capable of succeeding with our various tasks as corporate organizations, as well a nation".

AWARDS Of the 45 awards, four are personality awards, six are Hall of Fame awards, seven are media awards, one for Not-For-Profit award, 15 business awards, eight CIMG Silver Jubilee celebrated brands, two product awards and two special awards.

The remaining two personality awards Marketing Practitioner of the year, 2013, and Marketing Student of the Year, 2013, went to Mawuko Afadzinu, Head of Marketing and Communications at Stanbic Bank Ghana and Koffi Allaglo, Senior Regional Client Manager at Nielsen respectively.

Prof. J.H. Kwabena Nketia and the designer of the Ghana flag, Mrs. Theodosia Salome Okoh picked up special awards.
