Geely's flagship store on Jingdong Mall opens [Global Times]


(Global Times Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Geely announced on September 23 the opening of its flagship store on Jingdong Mall. It has been the fourth online flagship store since Geely launched three other ones on Tmall, Blemall and Suning. The new launch marks Geely's further exploration in the e-commerce mode for automobiles sector and will promote the diversity of the e-commerce platforms of the auto industry and lead the trend towards a new era of "e-commerce in automobile industry" in China. According to industry insiders, e-commerce mode will grow into the major carrier for the transaction in the auto sector. They believe that Geely's development and expansion on e-commerce platforms exactly reflect its high attention to the digital age, adjustment to people's spending habits and constant innovation in its marketing strategy.



To celebrate the opening of Geely's flagship store on Jingdong Mall, Geely will introduce  Jingdong-only vehicle model Emgrand EC7-RV from September 23 to October 23 and only 20 units will be offered at a price of 84,800 yuan. In addition, a series of promotion activities including extended car warranties and discounts will also be provided to those neitizens that buy cars from the flagship store. The users could access to the flagship for searching and ordering the wanted models.

Emgrand EC7-RV, the Jingdong-only model, is equipped with 1.3 turbo assisted engine and 6MT gearbox. Apart from its impressive turbo assisted engine, G-NetLink and fashionable appearance, the model also features some Jingdong-style modification including paint spraying, red/black leather seats, red leather door panels, headrest covers with embroidery logos, armrest boxes with embroidery logos, Jingdong nameplates and welcome pedals. Following the Panda models colored in white and blue, this is the second model that Geely sells exclusively online to meet the diversified needs of consumers to pursue different auto appearances. Moreover, Geely also offers effective after-sales service like providing extended car warranties for consumers who purchase this Jingdong-only model.  In the meantime, for young customers that Emgrand EC7-RV targets, Geely develops a WeChat game named "Turn Car into Gold". As long as players manage to drive cars and get required mileage during the allotted time, they can win maintenance gift cards from Geely's Jingdong flagship store which can be redeemed for 5-year-long free auto maintenance service. If players share their achievements with WeChat friends, they may receive Jingdong gift card worth 100 yuan.


In addition, consumers who purchase Emgrand EC7-RV can participate in the lucky draw held by Geely's Jingdong flagship store and may get Apple's latest product iPhone 6. With the launch of the flagship store on Jingdong Mall, Geely's e-commerce network is expected to be further strengthened to attract more consumers .Industry insiders believe that as the pioneering auto brand engaged in e-commerce industry, Geely has obtained lucrative market returns with its foresight into the consumption concept and mode. In 2013, the total sales of Geely's online auto flagship stores amounted to 4,744 units, representing a year-on-year increase of 350%. By the end of this August, the total sales of its online flagship stores has reached 5,161 units, a year-on-year increase of 76%. Statistics suggest that the accumulative sales volume of Geely's online stores has exceeded 10,000 units.

E-commerce platforms have been a main channel for consumers to know about manufacturers and products, and are increasingly becoming an indispensable marketing channel for dealerships. With the gradual maturity of its "online auto shopping" mode, Geely will occupy more market shares with the new concept of e-commerce.
