(Times Record (Fort Smith, AR) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Oct. 26--'QuickBooks,' Marketing Workshops Set The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center will present a hands-on workshop, "QuickBooks Day-to-Day Basics," from 1-4:30 p.m. Thursday at Beall Barclay & Company in Fort Smith.



Participants will receive instruction on the day-to-day features of QuickBooks including accounts payable, deposits, sales receipts, accounts receivable and managing sales tax. A basic working knowledge of QuickBooks is recommended to attend. A computer will be provided for each participant. Cost is $65 per person. Seating is limited; registration is required at (479) 356-2067 or at asbtdc.org/training/russellville-events.

The center will present "Introduction to Social Media Marketing" 1-4 p.m. Nov. 4 at Central Mall in Fort Smith. iPads will be provided for the interactive workshop. Cost is $30 per person; $25 for Greater Fort Smith Association of Home Builders members. Seating is limited and registration by calling (479) 356-2067 or at asbtdc.org/training/russellville-events.


Farm Bill Workshops Arkansas crop producers will have more than a dozen opportunities to get up to speed on the 2014 Farm Bill and its anticipated effects on their operation in workshops planned across Arkansas.

Most events will be held in east Arkansas cities such as Jonesboro, West Memphis, Stuttgart, Newport, Pocahontas and Paragould, with two in central Arkansas.

The workshops are being offered jointly by the Farm Service Agency and the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. There is no cost to attend and the daytime meetings include lunch.

New web-based farm bill decision tools, as well as the Agricultural Risk Coverage, the Price Loss Coverage and Supplemental Coverage Option programs are examples of subjects to be covered.

BancorpSouth Third Quarter BancorpSouth reported net income of $28.8 million or 30 cents per diluted share in the third quarter ending Sept. 30, nearly $4 million more than the previous third-quarter. The Tupelo, Miss.-based financial institution with banks in Fort Smith and Greenwood also reported net operating income of $30.8 million or 32 cents per diluted share.

A one-time pre-tax cost of $3.1 million was paid to progress toward remediation of the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering compliance weaknesses.

The bank generated net loan growth of $198.9 million, or 8.5 percent annualized, which represents the sixth consecutive quarter of net loan growth.

Putnam Homes Awarded Putnam Homes of Fort Smith was named 2014 Sales Center of the Year by the Arkansas Manufactured Housing Association during the organization's 43rd annual meeting and convention recently at Little Rock.

The retail sales facility is at 11540 Highway 71 in Fort Smith. Mark Williams, general manager of Putnam Homes, accepted the state trade association's highest business honor on behalf of the business and its personnel.
