(St. Louis Post-Dispatch (MO) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Oct. 28--RIVERVIEW GARDENS -- Three schools in the Riverview Gardens School District have received an Apple ConnectEd computer grant which will provide an iPad for every student, a Mac and iPad for every teacher and administrator, an Apple TV for every classroom, and other items.

The three schools are Central Middle School, Riverview Gardens High School, and Westview Middle School, officials announced Monday. At least 96 percent of the students at each school are eligible for the free or reduced-price lunch program, an indicator of poverty.

Each school will also get software, components, and technical support and professional development from an Apple team.

The grants were given to schools in 29 states through the White House ConnectED initiative. U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill applauded the announcement.

"We've got to ensure that our students have every chance to succeed in today's global economy by giving them the right tools and teaching the skills to use those tools," McCaskill said in a statement. "Investing in this classroom technology provides a critical opportunity to transform kids' learning experience and help level the playing field for hundreds of Missouri students."
