NIMBOXX Founder and CTO David Cauthron Appointed Chairman of the Cloud and Autonomic Computing Industry Advisory Board

AUSTIN, Texas --(Business Wire)--

NIMBOXX™, creator of the atomic unit of the software-defined data center, today announced that David Cauthron, founder and chief technology officer of NIMBOXX, has been appointed chairman of the industry advisory board for the National Science Foundation's Industry/University Cooperative Research Center for Cloud and Autonomic Computing (CAC). The CAC currently includes sites at Texas Tech University and Mississippi State University, with connections to several other major research universities. As chairman, Cauthron will lead the CAC industry advisory board to guide research priorities that promote development and commercialization of cloud infrastructures and standards, produce cloud industry-specific hardware and software benchmarks, and develop new approaches to cloud computing.

"The CAC is on the leading edge of cloud computing research and innovation, helping our industry define the standards that will guide the next generation of cloud adoption and growth," said David Cauthron, founder and CTO of NIMBOXX. "I am honored to serve as chairman of such a prestigious organization and look forward to working with the University and its industry partners to advance the cause of this important work."

The CAC is one of approximately 60 research centers around the country supported by the National Science Foundation Industry/University Cooperative Research Centers Program and the primary one with a focus on cloud computing. The Center's main goals are to identify and foster public-private partnerships on topics directly related to emerging cloud standards, identify and develop coordinated efforts on reference implementations, and create a trained workforce capable of sustaining the activities and opportunities created through these joint efforts.

NIMBOXX has been an Industry Advisory Board member since August 2014 and is one of six organizations currently involved in the Center's research efforts.
