UCO College of Business Joins Sap University Alliance

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) EDMOND, Okla., Oct. 31 -- The University of Central Oklahoma issued the following news release: Students in the University of Central Oklahoma College of Business are adding a new skillset this fall -- familiarity with software systems from Germany-based SAP, the market leader in enterprise resource planning systems with more than 263,000 customers in 190 countries. SAP's software applications are designed to help businesses in a variety of industries run more efficiently.

The opportunity comes as a result of Central joining the SAP University Alliance. Made up of more than 1,800 universities, 17,000 professors and hundreds of thousands of students from more than 80 countries, the alliance gives members access to resources from a market leader in application software, as well as the opportunity to engage with the wider SAP community. In joining the alliance, students at Central will now get hands-on experience with SAP as part of their normal curriculum.

Christine Alexander, Ph.D., assistant professor of management information systems at Central, says students' familiarity with SAP will benefit local companies that use the software.

"This allows us to better prepare our students and make them more effective in jobs that involve enterprise resource planning systems, particularly SAP, through hands-on experience with the program," said Alexander, who also serves as Central's campus coordinator for the alliance.

Alexander recently sat for and earned SAP's certification in the Associate Business Foundation and Integration with SAP Enterprise Resource Planning 6.0 Enhancement Package, part of the SAP Business Suite. She introduced SAP to the curriculum for her management information systems classes this fall and says the College of Business plans to continue its integration in future courses.

"Central can now serve as a resource to local companies that need continuing SAP education or support," Alexander added.
