Fernando Meza, who joined the company in 2012 as an account executive, now is owner and CEO. Founder Lisa Wehr started the company, at 13561 S. West Bayshore Drive, in 1996. She will serve an advisory role during the transition to Meza's ownership.



Meza promoted network television promotion for ABC in Los Angeles and later worked in advertising in New York City before moving to the Traverse City area. Oneupweb creates strategy- and research-driven online marketing. Its work involves web design, content marketing, paid media and social media.

Data visualization TRAVERSE CITY -- NorthSky Nonprofit Network is hosting a session on data visualization for nonprofits at NMC's University Center on Thursday from noon to 1:30 p.m. Visit northskynonprofitnetwork.org for more information on this $15 session.


Stormcloud hosted BACN fundraiser FRANKFORT -- Stormcloud Brewing Company hosted a spelling bee fundraiser for Benzie Area Christian Neighbors. The first place team was Emily Votruba of Elberta and Aubrey Parker of Frankfort. Proceeds from the night were donated to BACN.

Leelanau chamber after hours SUTTONS BAY -- The Leelanau Peninsula Chamber of Commerce will hold its November Business After Hours Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at The Friendship Center in Suttons Bay. Leelanau Christian Neighbors is hosting the event. Radio Shack and Leelanau Computer Repair are sponsoring it.

Business Breakfast Club ELK RAPIDS -- The next Elk Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce Business Breakfast Club will be held Thursday at 7:30 a.m. at the Elk Harbor Inn. Attorney John Ferguson will discuss best practices for selling a business. Reservations should be made today for the $10 event.

Lunch lecture cancelled ELK RAPIDS -- The Elk Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce canceled the lunch and lecture event scheduled for Friday.

Business After Hours ELK RAPIDS -- The next Elk Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours networking event will be held Nov. 20 at Riverside Title from 5-7 p.m.

STEM video contest TRAVERSE CITY -- The Networks Northwest Board of Director's Education Advisory Group organized a video contest to promote careers in science, technology, engineering and math. The contest is open to high school students in the 10-county northwest Michigan area. Teams will visit local companies and put together three-minute videos on STEM career opportunities. Consumers Energy safety tips TRAVERSE CITY -- Consumers Energy recommends customers inspect furnaces, change air filters, inspect chimneys and vent pipes and install carbon monoxide alarms to stay safe this winter. The company also reminds customers to never use gas stoves or charcoal grills to heat homes, never leave fireplaces or supplemental heaters unattended and make sure generators are connected by licensed electricians.
