NCKU, UNA Sign MoU to Foster Academic Cooperation


National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), southern Taiwan, and Universidad Nacional de AsunciĆ³n (UNA), Paraguay, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on November 27, for developing academic exchanges and cooperation in teaching and research.

NCKU President Hwung-Hweng Hwung and UNA Rector Dr. Froilan Enrique Peralta signed the MoU on behalf of the respective organizations.

In his welcome remark, NCKU President Hwung said, with the MoU, more opportunities for exchanges and cooperation and joint research and development in disciplines of mutual interest are expecting to be identified.

He also sad, "Currently we have 9 Paraguayan students studying at NCKU and a total of 25 Paraguayans had graduated from NCKU."



Dr. Peralta said, "I'd like to express my heartfelt gratitude for Taiwan's warm friendship and assistance to Paraguay and the close tie between us is almost like brotherhood."

He also said, after signing this MoU, the collaboration between NCKU and UNA will boost up the development of technology innovation in Paraguay.


"We know that NCKU is one of the best universities in Taiwan and after singing the MoU, we'd like to send our academic staff and students to NCKU to study and do research which will improve the level of our technological innovation," Dr. Peralta added.

Dr. Peralta also invited NCKU professors to open courses in UNA in the coming summer term.

After the signing ceremony, National University of AsunciĆ³n delegation visited NCKU Museum, College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Touch Center, and the Affiliated Senior Industrial Vocational Continuing Education High School of NCKU for a further understanding about NCKU.
