Family Dollar Concludes Four-Week Boys & Girls Clubs of America Giving Campaign


Family Dollar Stores, Inc. (NYSE: FDO) today announced a $280,000 donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA). The amount includes donations from Family Dollar and customers at more than 8,200 Family Dollar stores during the retailer's, "Open the Door for America's Kids" campaign. Also included in the total, is a generous $25,000 donation from Coca-Cola to BGCA. Funds raised will go to the organization, in support of the nearly four million young people served by Boys & Girls Clubs each year.

"At Family Dollar, helping our local youth is extremely important to all of us," said Jason Reiser, Chief Merchandising Officer for Family Dollar. "We are delighted that our store teams and customers rallied behind this cause. We are also pleased that our longtime-supplier partner, Coca-Cola, saw the importance of this campaign and made a generous donation. We know the funds raised during this campaign will have a lasting, positive impact on the children who rely on their local Boys & Girls Clubs."

Today's check presentation was held at a Charlotte-area Boys & Girls Club. Following the presentation, Family Dollar Team Members passed out more than 100 gift bags filled with toys, gift cards, school supplies and personal hygiene items to Club-goers in attendance.

  • 100% of proceeds raised at each store will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of America and local Clubs
  • Every $1 donation helps provide 20 minutes of after-school programming for a Club youth
  • $15 helps keep a Club youth safe after school
