Redfin Brings Its Real Estate Brokerage to New Jersey

Redfin (www.redfin.com), the customer-first real estate brokerage, today announced the launch of its home-buying and selling services throughout the entire state of New Jersey.

"Our New Jersey launch marks a significant milestone for Redfin's growth, both here in the Northeast Corridor and nationally," said Karen Krupsaw, vice president of real estate operations at Redfin. "New Jersey has well established, diverse real estate markets across the state--from the Philadelphia commuters in South New Jersey to Manhattan commuters in the north part of the state to everything in between--and countless economically significant and iconic cities, such as Morristown, Jersey City, Hoboken, Princeton, Rumson and Cape May. New Jersey is full of local culture that Redfin is excited to be part of."

The Redfin model is different from that of other brokerages because it uniquely aligns agent and customer interests. Redfin agents are paid a salary and receive benefits, with customer satisfaction ratings determining each agent's bonuses. All reviews for all Redfin agents are published on their online profiles.

Redfin real estate agents focus on delivering great service while helping clients buy or sell homes. This efficiency, powered by the best technology, also enables Redfin to pass savings on to our clients. Someone who buys a $500,000 home with a Redfin agent in New Jersey would receive a refund of over $5,000 at closing. Instead of the typical 2.5 to 3 percent commission, Redfin charges sellers a 1.5 percent fee. This means someone selling a $500,000 home with a Redfin agent would save between $5,000 and $7,500.

Redfin hired Nick Boniakowski to lead the Redfin team in North Jersey, which covers everything north of Middlesex County. Boniakowski was born and raised in New Jersey and is a third generation real estate agent with over 10 years of experience. After graduating from Boston College, he worked in finance in Manhattan as preparation for a career in real estate. Before joining Redfin, Boniakowski worked at his family's brokerage, where he learned the importance of customer service.

"My father taught me to always put the customer first and I love that Redfin's culture and business model are built around that same guiding principle," Boniakowski said. "Redfin technology helps me do my job better and faster so I have more time to be a true advocate and counselor for my clients during the biggest financial transaction of their life."

Real estate veteran Gina Sapnar joined Redfin with 18 years of real estate experience under her belt to lead the South Jersey Redfin team. Sapnar will serve homebuyers and sellers in Middlesex County all the way to Cape May. Before joining Redfin, she worked as a brokerage manager in New Jersey and helped build a local franchise from the ground up, managing the business and training and mentoring her team of agents. Before becoming a real estate agent, Sapnar received her bachelor's degree in information systems from Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland.

"I'm excited to take my deep knowledge of South Jersey and background in technology and put them to work at Redfin," Sapnar said. "While I'm busy serving our area's first home-buying and selling clients, I'm also working on carefully hiring the best agents to build a local team that will provide New Jerseyans a level of service they never thought possible in real estate."
