CareMore Health System Names Sachin H. Jain as Its Chief Medical Officer
CareMore Health System, a wholly owned subsidiary of Anthem Inc., has
named Sachin H. Jain, M.D., MBA, as its chief medical officer, effective
Jan. 19. Dr. Jain will be responsible for leading CareMore's medical
management, care delivery and clinical innovation activities, including
replicating and continuously innovating the CareMore model.
Dr. Jain, a graduate of Harvard College, Medical School, and the Harvard
Business School, recently served as chief medical information and
innovation officer at Merck, is an attending hospitalist physician for
the Department of Veterans Affairs in Boston and is a lecturer in health
care policy at Harvard Medical School. He trained in internal medicine
at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and is board certified in
Internal Medicine.
Dr. Jain is co-founder and co-editor-in-chief of Healthcare: The
Journal of Delivery Science and Innovation and has authored pieces
for more than 80 medical publications, including articles in the New
England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of the American Medical
Society and the book, The Soul of a Doctor.
Dr. Jain previously served as special assistant to the national
coordinator for health information technology and senior advisor to the
administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. He helped
launch the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, which is the
federal agency that is responsible for supporting new models of payment
and health care delivery. His areas of expertise include health care
reform and health information technology.
CareMore serves more than 80,000 Medicare members in Virginia,
California, Arizona and Nevada. The company is known for innovative
programs that help those with certain health conditions, including
congestive heart failure, diabetes, hypertension and kidney disease.
CareMore also provides programs for healthy aging. CareMore is currently
working to scale its models nationally through new business
subsidiaries. Dr. Jain will report to Leeba Lessin, CareMore's chief
executive officer.
