Tile Launches "Shared Tiles," Allowing Couples, Roommates and Friends to Help Each Other Find Lost Keys, Wallets and Even the Car

SAN MATEO, Calif., March 31, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Tile, the tiny wearable for the things you never want to lose, announces the launch of its highly anticipated sharing feature, now available on iOS and Android. Shared Tiles gives community members the option to share access to any of their Tiled items -  like keys, the remote control, or backpack - with one other person. This feature enhances Tile's finding functionality, and mimics the natural search behavior that we observe in small groups. Tile is also announcing today that it's helping its community find over 250,000 items every single day.

Tile's Sharing Feature

CEO Mike Farley rarely hears, "Honey, have you seen my keys," anymore.  "Part of the inspiration for Tile was that my wife and I were always losing our keys. We've built the largest Lost & Found community by helping people find their lost belongings, and Shared Tiles was the logical next step for us," said Tile CEO, Mike Farley."Now anyone can form their own micro-community, to help track down lost items, save precious time, and get back to what's important."

Shared Tiles are a lifesaver when it comes to items used often by couples, roommates, or coworkers. While Tile helps people find their misplaced items, the bigger impact is saving valuable time and avoiding the anxiety of dealing with a lost object. For example, say your spouse goes out of town and you share a Tile on the TV remote. Two minutes before your favorite show begins, you realize the remote is not in its usual location, and is nowhere to be found. Simply open up the Tile app and use the melody feature as a guide to where the remote is hiding in a matter of seconds.

Sharing is easy – just pick the Tile you wish to share in the app and send your friend or loved-one an email invite offering access to that item. Both users will have access to all of the same functionality for tracking that item on a map or finding it by sounding the melody, using the Last Place Seen feature, or marking it as lost to have the entire community help find that object. Users also have the option to share Tiled items for a limited amount of time, so it's perfect when visiting a friend in another city for a short trip. If you decide you no longer want to share your Tile, you may revoke access to that shared Tile at any time.

Tiles can be purchased on the company's website or through Amazon.
