Grand Velas Riviera Maya Hosts Vow Renewal for #TheLostWeddingBand Couple

RIVIERA MAYA, Mexico, April 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- When Daniel Roark found a ring while snorkeling on the "Barracuda" reef in Mexico's Riviera Maya region last year, he made it his mission to find the real owners of the ring.

The band looked like a wedding ring, but it contained an inscription quite rare: "JESSICA 16 02 13 TYYJCEM." Daniel published a photograph of the ring on Facebook and asked if anyone could claim it as their own. The hashtag #TheLostWeddingBand turned viral worldwide very quickly with more than 50 couples claiming to be it owner.

Three months, and 200,000 social media shares, after he first published the post, Daniel received a message from Jessica Garza's cousin. He ensured that the jewel belonged to his family and explained the circumstances in which they lost the ring, sending photographs documenting every detail of the story.

While celebrating their honeymoon in Riviera Maya in early 2013, Martin Castillo and Jessica Garza misplaced the ring while diving on the Snuba Reef at Xcaret.

Aware of the story and its great impact, Grand Velas Riviera Maya, Xcaret natural park and Riviera Maya Tourism Promotion Trust decided to invite Martin, Jessica and Daniel back to Riviera Maya for a happy ending. On the spring equinox in 2015, they returned for a unique event where Daniel returned the treasured ring. In Xcaret, shaman Eduardo Colunga offered a ritual of thanksgiving, according to the Mayan ceremony, praising the noble heart that made the ring's recovery possible. At Grand Velas Riviera Maya, Martin and Jessica renewed their wedding vows having Daniel, his "Angel," as a special witness, prior to dinner at the resort's fine dining French restaurant, Piaf.

During the events, Martin and Jessica announced with great jubilation that they are expecting their first baby. And as in the day of their wedding, they have once again renewed its most powerful conviction: "Tu y yo juntos contra el mundo," (TYYJCEM) meaning "Be joined together. You and me against the world!"
