16 California Schools & Community Centers To Receive Volunteer Makeovers As Part Of 14th Annual "Comcast Cares Day"

LIVERMORE, Calif., April 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- On Saturday, April 25, more than 4,000 local Comcast employees and their families and friends will "make change happen" as they volunteer to improve 16 schools and community centers throughout California as part of Comcast's 14th annual "Comcast Cares Day." Comcast Cares Day is Comcast and NBCUniversal's signature day of service and the nation's largest single-day corporate volunteer effort.

Throughout California, local elected officials will be on hand at the schools and centers as Comcast employees will spend the day planting shrubs, repainting walls, building picnic tables and bookshelves, repairing fences, weeding flower beds, cleaning playgrounds, replacing bark and performing landscaping projects at the schools listed below. Members of the community are invited to participate, but must register at: www.comcastinthecommunity.com.

Comcast has achieved 3.7 million service hours to improve nearly 6,000 projects in the U.S. and around the world since Comcast Cares Day started in 2001. This year the Company expects more than 95,000 Comcast volunteers to participate in over 700 projects across the country, as well as some international sites. They will be posting creative selfies of their work throughout the day using the hashtag #CCDay and the Twitter handle @ComcastImpact.

"We're so proud to partner with our local schools and non-profit organizations to improve our community during our 14th Comcast Cares Day," said Hank Fore, Regional Senior Vice President of Comcast California. "The hard work of the thousands of California volunteers who will be donating their time to help make such a big difference in the lives of others is inspiring, and I am thankful to all of our participants who will help make April 25th a success for our communities."

The Comcast Foundation will also provide grants to local community partner organizations across the country on behalf of each employee and family member who volunteers on Comcast Cares Day. The grants will help Comcast's community partners continue their mission of serving the community throughout the year. To date Comcast has contributed $16 million to local non-profit organizations who have partnered with us on Comcast Cares Day.

Comcast has been committed to serving local communities since our founding 50 years ago. For more information on Comcast's volunteer and community investment initiatives, visit http://www.comcast.com/Community.
