TBM Connect, A Digital Industry Network Of The World's Leading IT Professionals, Is Now Live

BELLEVUE, Wash., May 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Technology Business Management (TBM) Council, a nonprofit organization dedicated to standardizing and promoting best practices for managing the business of IT, today announced the launch of TBM Connect. This "digital industry network" is the only online association for both business-centric IT professionals and their finance partners to discuss new approaches for transparency, planning, strategy, and cost management.

A first of its kind, the TBM Connect ecosystem represents two distinct and significant communities of TBM experts. The first, TBM Council, is home to leading IT, finance, and business executives who want to collaborate on standards for measuring, improving, and communicating the value of IT. The second is the Apptio customer community, a forum for product discussions led by customers, partners and employees of the TBM SaaS solution provider. As Technical Advisor to the Council, Apptio was selected to pilot its user community within TBM Connect because of the organization's deep domain expertise. Additional TBM Council partner communities will be introduced over time in an effort to expand the global reach of TBM Connect.

"The TBM Council was founded to serve as a connective tissue between enterprise IT leaders, finance professionals, and business executives interested in changing the conversation about how their companies best employ IT resources. Over the past four years, we've grown from six founding advisors to thousands of thought-leading professionals," said Todd Tucker, General Manager of the TBM Council. "As the discipline continues to rapidly grow, TBM Connect will allow us to educate and serve our members and partners at scale."

TBM Connect was designed to deliver upon the TBM Council's mandates of collaboration, standardization and education for the noprofit's nearly 1,700 members. Many forward-thinking IT leaders have embraced TBM to communicate IT's value to the business, optimize IT costs and investments, plan efficiently and accurately, and transform the IT operating model. Their methods, techniques, and knowledge are transforming IT into a dynamic and integral partner in the growth of modern business. TBM Connect will serve as a forum for member IT leaders to discuss these topics and stay connected virtually in-between industry events.

"Historically Apptio's approximately 250 enterprise customers, which are comprised of more than one-third of the Fortune 100, worked with our team of professionals to tap into TBM education and best practices," said Jesse Lee, Vice President of TBM Adoption at Apptio. "With the introduction of TBM Connect, our customers not only have access to advice and support for using their TBM applications, but they can learn from their industry peers how to continuously improve their TBM practices."

TBM Connect will showcase the foundational techniques, proven best practices, and core processes that define and support the TBM discipline, including:

  • Standards development: Join IT leaders from Global 2000 organizations in a discussion on TBM best practices in measuring the cost, quality, and value of technology investments.
  • Role-specific discussions: Focused content surrounding industry verticals and functions help to develop thought leadership, competency models, research, and customized TBM taxonomies in advancement of the IT profession.
  • Apptio product support and discussions: Read the latest product release notes, TBM success best practices, and connect with Apptio support professionals on Apptio's TBM applications.

To become a TBM Council member, register on TBMCouncil.org. General Membership has no cost, but is restricted to qualified industry professionals.
