Skout's International Kissing Day Survey Reveals That Nearly 1 in 5 People Would Rather Kiss Their Pet Than Their Significant Other!

SAN FRANCISCO, July 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In honor of International Kissing Day on Monday, July 6^th, Skout recently surveyed nearly 5,000 people in the U.S. and found that people love to pucker up for their lovable pets! People also weighed in on how they feel about kissing their friends, coworkers and even bosses.

Here are some of the survey highlights:

Nearly 1 in 5 people would rather kiss their pet than their significant other!

• 19% of people say they'd prefer to kiss their pet over their significant other.
• 43% of people say they'd prefer to kiss their pet rather than family or friends.

The majority of people pucker up for pets.

• 75% of people admit that they kiss their pets.

Dogs are the most kissable pet.

• 70% of people say dogs are the most kissable pet, followed by 21% who prefer to kiss their cats, 7% who think birds are most affectionate and just 2% who prefer their reptile.

Ok enough about pets…

When it comes to friends, the majority of us appreciate a hello kiss.

• 61% of people surveyed say they're all for a quick kiss hello when greeting a friend.
• Interestingly, men (64%) are even more likely than women (56%) to kiss when saying hello.

Get cheeky – but keep it to one cheek only!

• The majority rules again. Amongpeople who appreciate a greeting kiss, 75% say a quick kiss hello on one cheek is the way to go.
• A quick kiss on both cheeks goes too far for most (only 12% prefer it) and a simple air kiss isn't as genuine (only 13% prefer it).

• 13% of people surveyed have greeted a coworker with a quick kiss.
• 11% of people say they have kissed their boss.

To celebrate International Kissing Day, Skout is also partnering with Muttville, a San Francisco-based nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving the lives of senior dogs. Muttville rescues senior dogs, the ones least likely to be adopted from shelters, and finds them new homes and a second chance at love. Skout's survey found that 52% of people would adopt an older dog, and on International Kissing Day, for every virtual Muttville sticker friends give to each other in the Skout app, Skout will make a donation to Muttville.
