"Epson has been a longstanding technology and information resource for our community of artists and photographers. With an expanded presence this year, Epson accounts for nearly all of the printing and projection technologies utilized in the Studio," said Reid Baker, chair, Studio at SIGGRAPH 2015. "Whether using Wacom® tablets to create new printable concepts, or editing and printing original photography and artwork, attendees can interact with a range of printing and projection applications, from t-shirts to canvas to large-format designs."

Attendees visiting the Studio will have access to a range of printing and projection technologies, techniques and applications with help from experienced hands:

  • Studio Workstations: The Epson SureColor® P600 and Epson Stylus® Photo R2000 will be on-hand to print original photography, digital artwork, panoramas, and canvas. The SureColor P600 leverages an advanced MicroPiezo® AMC printhead with next-generation Epson UltraChrome® HD pigment inks driven by enhanced AccuPhoto HD imaging technology to produce exhibition-quality black-and-white prints with never before seen pigment black density and stunningly vivid color. Attendees can also experience the versatile 13-inch Epson Stylus Photo R2000, designed to yield beautiful archival prints with an unprecedented glossy look and feel.
  • Studio T-Shirt Design & Printing: Attendees will have an opportunity to design and print directly onto t-shirts using the Epson SureColor F2000 direct-to-garment (DTG) printer. Equipped with Epson UltraChrome® DG ink technology and the Epson PrecisionCore TFP® printhead, the SureColor F2000 delivers precise and repeatable performance, image quality and high reliability with the ability to print directly onto garments – t-shirts, hoodies, jackets, tote bags, and more.
  • Large-Format Printing in the Studio: Attendees will have an opportunity to print large-format prints and posters up to 44-inches wide using the Epson SureColor T7270. Featuring a combination of precision and performance with Epson PrecisionCore TFP printhead and Epson UltraChrome® XD pigment ink for brilliant, crisp output, the SureColor T7270 delivers extreme line accuracy with resolutions up to 2880 x 1440 dpi at incredibly fast speeds.
  • Digital Draw-Off Competition: Utilizing Epson PowerLite® 1985WU projectors and Wacom tablets, attending digital artists will battle it out in a digital competition where winning submissions will receive prizes from the SIGGRAPH Studio. Artwork created will be mirrored via WiDi or Miracast® in HDMI resolution onto a 200-inch screen display and judged by an esteemed jury panel. The PowerLite 1985WU provides unparalleled image quality coupled with a range of connectivity options and up to WUXGA resolution with native full HD 1080p support.

As part of the SIGGRAPH Studio, Eddie Murphy, part of Epson Professional Imaging Product Management, will conduct an in-depth interactive course – Digital T-Shirt Design and Printing – on Sunday, Aug. 9, from 2-3:30 p.m. in South Hall G. Class participants will learn best practices for designing graphics for digital DTG printers. Finished designs will be printed on Epson SureColor F2000 DTG printers in the Studio and entered into Epson's T-Shirt Design Contest taking place at the show. In addition, Epson PowerLite Pro Z-Series 3LCD projectors will be utilized in break-out sessions to drive collaboration during demos and classes.

"We thrive on educating the market, not only on the latest design trends, but on best practices and the latest technology available to create the highest quality printed output – photography, artwork and images, and even t-shirts – regardless of level of expertise," said Murphy, "The SIGGRAPH Studio is an ideal venue for attendees from a range of creative disciplines to explore and learn about Epson print technologies and see their art come to life in a real, tangible way and explore their creativity with like-minded individuals."

Epson will also demonstrate a range of innovative graphic design applications at SIGGRAPH in booth #929, including design drawings, story boards, characters posters, and more. Professional sketch artists will document their creative design process using an Epson BrightLink® Pro interactive projector, leveraging an Epson SureColor T-Series large-format color printer to output the final designs. Epson will also be conducting demos and technical workshops for the Moverio® BT-200 augmented reality smart glasses throughout the show at booth #937, including tutorials presented by Sean McCracken, the premier smart glasses app developer and CEO of Imaginary Computer.
