Come Get Creative - Wacom Experience Center Now Open

PORTLAND, Ore., July 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Come one, come all and celebrate the opening of Wacom's Experience Center, a destination for creative discovery and a place for Portlanders and visitors alike to roll up their sleeves and have some serious fun drawing or painting on one of Wacom's extensive line of digital pen tablets, creative pen displays or other pen-based products to create art and design. Located on the ground floor of Wacom's new offices at 1455 NW Irving in Portland's hip Pearl District, Wacom's Experience Center opens up a wonderful world of natural and immersive computer input devices to people of all ages and skill levels. "Whether an adult or child, novice or professional, the Experience Center has something for every visitor," said Stefan Kirmse, Wacom's Senior Vice President of Corporate Communication and Brand. "Furthermore, we designed the space to be totally flexible. It can be easily transformed from an open work space to a classroom or presentation setting for a guest artist," Kirmse continues.

The new Wacom Experience Center in Portland, Oregon is a place to explore creativity with Wacom's innovative digital pen tablets, creative pen displays and other pen-based products. The venue is also highly flexible with its ability to be configured for workshops, training sessions or presentations from guest artists or designers.

While allowing the public to get hands-on experience with Wacom products and have fun with creativity are key facets to the Experience Center, the venue is also intended to be an educational resource for the community. Workshops, lectures and training sessions are just a few examples of the types of events that will be held at the Experience Center moving forward. "A workshop on retouching potos with Photoshop and a Wacom pen tablet or an evening appearance from an industrial designer discussing his/her latest creation are the types of programs we plan to offer at the Experience Center. The possibilities are endless and we are building out our schedule now and will be making it public shortly," commented Kirmse.

Part of the overall 2,550 square feet features a flexible studio space where people can enjoy a quieter environment or artists looking for a short-term location can work.

The following events are happening this week at the Experience Center:

  • Thursday, July 14th, 6:00PM to 7:30PM: Join us for an evening with Mark Shapiro of Laika as he discusses the studio's history, their work and the upcoming release of the new film "Kubo and the Two Strings."
  • Friday, July 15th, 6:00PM to 7:30PM: Nik Ranieri, of Disney Animation fame, will talk about the creation of "Beauty and the Beast" and other films as well as share his animation skills. Food, beer and wine will be served.
  • Saturday, July 16th, 11:30AM to 1:30PM: Photographer Mason Marsh will discuss the ins and outs of drone photography and offer up some editing tips and tricks. Coffee and breakfast snacks will be provided.
