A.M. Best Assigns Credit Ratings to Intrepid Insurance CompanyA.M. Best has assigned a Financial Strength Rating of A+ (Superior) and a Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating of "aa-" to Intrepid Insurance Company (Intrepid) (Urbandale, IA). The outlook assigned to these Credit Ratings (ratings) is stable. The ratings reflect Intrepid's participation in a pooling arrangement led by its parent, Berkley Insurance Company (BIC). BIC and Intrepid are rating unit members of the W. R. Berkley Insurance Group (Berkley Group) and subsidiaries of W. R. Berkley Corporation [NYSE:WRB]. The Berkley Group is one of the largest U.S. commercial lines insurance writers, focusing on providing standard and specialty products to insureds in a variety of differentiated markets. Intrepid was acquired in July 2016 to support the organization's on-line distribution capabilities and afford additional tiering opportunities.
