Skills® for Autism was developed by SKILLS Global, a subsidiary company of the Center for Autism and Related Disorders, as a web-based treatment and educational tool to help support clinicians, caregivers and educators with the treatment and education of children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). ASD is the fastest growing neurological disorder worldwide, affecting approximately one percent of the global population. More and more people are being diagnosed and are in need of support as understanding of the condition has evolved dramatically in recent years.

The Learning Technology Award judges in this category awarded Skills® for Autism with the Gold, saying: "Impressive use of technology to identify the most appropriate learning interventions for children with Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) based on comprehensive diagnostics and subsequent observational data. The observations app is an ideal way to capture behavioural data during a typical day and the curriculum planning tools help teachers, support workers and parents put together a set of learning interventions that are customised and adapted for the individual…This platform is well placed to make a difference to those with ASD and those who care for them."

Skills® for Autism was originally created by behavioral clinicians and is based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), which works on the psychologically proven principle that human behavior is a function of its consequences. ABA has helped peoplein need of behavioral and learning interventions in many areas, but is most well-known for its application in the field of autism treatment, being the only treatment scientifically proven to bring about significant, lasting improvement for individuals with autism. The Skills® for Autism tool itself has 10 published research studies on the effectiveness, efficiency and validity of the tool and its content.

"We're so pleased to have won this award in recognition of the comprehensive and powerful impact Skills® for Autism has had and will continue to have as we keep working to make it an even more powerful tool to help children with autism to thrive," said Eliana Ferreira, CEO of SKILLS Global. "We are all very humbled and grateful to be a part of making a positive difference in the lives of families around the world affected by autism."
