Lanakila Baptist Students to Rally at State Capitol

Students, parents and teachers from Lanakila Baptist School will rally in support of school choice in the islands with an organized event that coincides with National School Choice Week 2017 - the nation's largest-ever celebration of opportunity in education.

The rally will take place on Tuesday, January 24 at the Hawaii Capitol located in Honolulu. This is Lanakila Baptist's second year attending the state rally, and its fifth year participating in National School Choice Week.

Lanakila Baptist School is a Christian school serving grades Kindergarten - 12 with a student enrollment of 160.

The goal of the event is to celebrate great education choices in Hawaii and raise awareness among parents about school choice. The celebration is timed to coincide with National School Coice Week (January 22-28, 2017), which will feature more than 21,000 events across the country.

"We always love using National School Choice Week as a springboard to talk about school choice in Hawaii. We want all families to have access to more opportunity in our state," said Maria Pauley, Principal at Lanakila Baptist School.

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through more than 21,000 independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
