Syracuse University's Number One-ranked Maxwell School Opens Applications for Online Executive Master of Public Administration Program

SYRACUSE, N.Y., Feb. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Syracuse University's Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs is now accepting applications for ExecutiveMPA@Syracuse, its new online Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) degree.

The Maxwell School's Executive Education program, created in 1964, draws directly on the faculty and curriculum of Maxwell's top-ranked graduate program in public administration and public affairs. Maxwell has enjoyed U.S. News and World Report's top public affairs ranking every year since those surveys began in 1995. More than 10,000 professionals have completed the School's executive masters and midcareer training programs.

"The Maxwell School is dedicated to excellence in educating leaders who share our passion for making the world a better place," says David M. Van Slyke, Dean of the Maxwell School. "We are very excited to extend this opportunity to busy professionals around the globe, breaking down barriers to a world-class education through advanced online delivery technology."

ExecutiveMPA@Syracuse online classes are designed and led by Maxwell School faculty who also teach on campus and are organized to develop the same core leadership, management, and analytical skills as the on-campus program. Courses focus on three areas of mastery: formulating, implementing, and evaluating policy; leading and managing organizations with diverse stakeholders; and applying rigorous and evidence-based analysis to inform decision making. The knowledge gained in the ExecutiveMPA@Syracuse is applicable to organizations that work across sectors and are oriented toward serving the public good.

The program is designed for working professionals with five or more years of experience in managerial and/or public policy positions based anywhere in the world. The degree consists of 30 credits and may be completed in 15 months. Courses consist of a mixture of core requirements in organizational leadership and general policy analysis, as well as offerings in specialized subject areas such as conflict studies, human resource management, budgeting and finance, democratic values in public administration, and policy implementation.

ExecutiveMPA@Syracuse students have access to the same digital resources that are available to students in the on-campus programs such as online libraries and databases as well as the Maxwell alumni community.

The first application deadline is May 8, 2017, with additional applications accepted on a rolling basis. The first ExecutiveMPA@Syracuse classes begin in July 2017.  For more information on ExecutiveMPA@Syracuse, please visit onlinempa.syr.edu or contact an admissions counselor at 866-376-3167 or [email protected].
