Kepware® Opens Fourth Annual School Grant Program

PORTLAND, Maine, Feb. 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Kepware, a PTC business located in Portland, Maine developing industrial connectivity software, today announced that applications for its fourth annual school grant program are now being accepted. Schools, classrooms, school clubs, and educational programs located and operating in the state of Maine are encouraged to apply.

A strong proponent of supporting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education and workforce development in Maine and abroad, Kepware will award one grant of $10,000 to a local K-12 school or academic organization working to foster STEM interest and knowledge among Maine youth.

"As the demand for STEM talent continues to grow, so do the inequalities and gaps in educational programs across the United States that prevent youth from entering STEM-related fields," said Tony Paine, Kepware Platform President. "It is our goal to bridge this gap by providing academic organizations with resources to explore STEM programs and enable students to flex their talents. With this grant, we can help nurture the interests, knowledge, and technical skills of Maine's future workforce."

Kepware is accepting grant applications until May 5, 2017. Candidates will be evaluated on a one-page essay detailing why the grant is needed and how it will be used to improve educational opportunities. Accompanying videos or other multimedia formats that help express why the organization is deserving of the grant are also encouraged. The chosen grant recipient will be announced on June 1, 2017 and will receive the grant for use during the 2017-2018 school year. Last June, Kepware awarded Acton Elementary School in Acton, Maine the $10,000 grant to advance a hands-on robotics course for students.

Applicants can submit essays and supporting documentation via email to [email protected] or by post to Kepware, 2017 School Grant Program, P.O. Box 579 Portland, ME 04112. Complete grant program rules can be found online.

The annual school grant program is just one of several philanthropic initiatives driven by Kepware to promote STEM workforce development in Maine. Kepware offers three annual Engineering scholarships through the University of Maine to qualified students.
