A Committed Business - Montréal Auto Prix Inaugurates a Free-to-Use Double Quick Charging Station for all Electric Vehicle Owners

MONTREAL, April 28, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - In the presence of Pierre Arcand, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Minister responsible for the Plan Nord and Minister responsible for the Côte-Nord region, and Elsie Lefebvre, Associate councilor for the City of Montréal, responsible for the Transportation Electrification Strategy, Montréal Auto Prix announces the commissioning of a double-outlet charging station (Elmec, 400 V) that will be available free of charge to individual private electric vehicle users.

"A year ago, already, we launched one of our boldest and most innovative initiative yet with the first sales establishment entirely dedicated to pre-owned hybrid and electric vehicles in Canada. Today's announcement once again reflects our sincere and profound commitment to the electrification of transport. We are convinced that the more the network of electric vehicle charging stations is developed in Quebec, the more motorists will choose this type of vehicle. This is what we believe and as such, we wish to contribute by proposing solutions that will promote change," adds Richard Martin, co-chair of Montréal Auto Prix.

The new rapid charging station for electric cars will be available at 5 600 Metropolitan Boulevard East. The first fifteen minutes of each use (and most efficient) will be free in ordr to allow a maximum number of users to benefit from the station.

Montreal Mayor, Mr. Denis Coderre, is firmly committed to work toward transportation electrification. As the person responsible for the Transportation Electrification Strategy, I especially welcome Montréal Auto Prix's initiative of installing two rapid charging stations that will be free of use for electric vehicle owners," said Elsie Lefebvre, Associate transportation councilor for the City of Montréal Executive Committee.

For several years, Montréal Auto Prix has made many services favouring a more eco-responsible use of individual transportation available to Quebeckers. In February 2016, the company inaugurated the first sales facility for pre-owned hybrid and electric vehicles in Canada, and has equipped all of its establishments with free charging stations for its employees. The company also supported Montreal's Polytechnique students for the development of their 100% electric formula.

The addition of this new charging station for electric cars, an initial investment of $ 135,000, is part of Montréal Auto Prix's commitment toward the electrification of transport through which the company hopes to inspire Quebeckers' interest in the matter. This is in line with the government's objectives to make Quebec a leader in Green transportation and to reduce GHG.
