Veterans' Ride 2 Recovery Rolls into Geico's Virginia Beach Office on June 2

GEICO, the USO, and other partner organizations will be on hand to greet over 150 veterans as they roll down 1435 Perimeter Parkway to the GEICO office to complete the Ride 2 Recovery cycling event on June 2. Members of the public are invited to join GEICO associates and other local supporters to cheer on the riders at 1 p.m. that afternoon as they approach the finish.

The Ride 2 Recovery starts in Washington, D.C., on Memorial Day, May 29, kicking off the USO's Warrior Week activities. Warrior Week offers wounded, ill and injured service members a chance to participate in various therapeutic and recreational activities in hopes of aiding their recovery.

This year's Ride travels through Manassas, Fredericksburg, and Williamsburg, and ends at the Virginia Beach Patriotic Festival, which features several Warrior Week activities created to honor veterans.

"Ride 2 Recovery is a great way to show our support of veterans," said Tom Garner, director of GEICO's military division, "and it's just one of the ways that we work with the USO through our worldwide partnership. The Ride 2 Recovery program instills leadership, builds confidence and assists veterans as they re-enter civilian lives. We are proud to show our appreciation of the service and sacrifice of those who serve our great nation and the families that endure the long separations away from their loved ones."

GEICO volunteers will be assisting throughout the Patriotic Festival in Virginia Beach. The public is invited to support the events and the Ride 2 Recovery riders.
