Christian Universities Online Publishes Ranking of 25 Most Affordable Colleges and Universities in the South 2017DURHAM, N.C., May 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading Christian higher education resource, Christian Universities Online (http://www.christianuniversitiesonline.org/), has published a ranking of the 25 Most Affordable Colleges and Universities in the South 2017. (http://www.christianuniversitiesonline.org/most-affordable-christian-colleges-in-the-south/) For this ranking, Christian Universities Online began with a list of schools that are members or member eligible of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU). They gave consideration to schools that are in their previously published 50 Most Affordable Christian Colleges and Universities 2017 ranking, and then narrowed the pool down to the southern region of the US. Each was then ranked according to its average net price. This number takes the total cost of attendance and subtracts the average financial aid received at that particular institution. Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina, claimed the top spot on the list, while Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, and Judson College-AL of Marion, Alabama placed second and third, respectively. Other schools making the list include (in alphabetical order): Belhaven University - Jackson, Mississippi Bryan College - Dayton, Tennessee Campbellsville University - Campbellsville, Kentucky Carson-Newman University - Jefferson City, Tennessee Charleston Southern niversity - Charleston, South Carolina Emmanuel College - Franklin Springs, Georgia Harding University - Searcy, Arkansas John Brown University - Siloam Springs, Arkansas Kentucky Christian University - Grayson, Kentucky King University - Bristol, Tennessee Lee University - Cleveland, Tennessee Louisiana College - Pineville, Louisiana Mississippi College - Clinton, Mississippi Montreat College - Montreat, North Carolina North Greenville University - Tigerville, South Carolina Regent University - Virginia Beach, Virginia Shorter University - Rome, Georgia Southern Wesleyan University - Central, South Carolina Toccoa Falls College - Toccoa, Georgia Trevecca Nazarene University - Nashville, Tennessee Warner University Lake - Wales, Florida Williams Baptist College - Walnut Ridge, Arkansas Anna-Rebekah Orr, editor at Christian Universities Online, states that the goal of the ranking is to highlight schools that provide the best value in online higher education. Orr goes on to say, "Despite a family's best efforts to be completely open and objective, budgetary concerns inevitably enter the decision-making process when it comes to selecting a college." Cost increases are nothing new, nor surprising. This includes the cost of higher education, which seems to creep up semester by semester. Having published the 50 Most Affordable Christian Colleges and Universities 2017, Christian Universities Online turned its attention to regional rankings in order to provide a resource for students whose college searches are focused on a particular region. Oftentimes a school in or near home is more affordable for many students. Christian Universities Online is pleased to offer rankings that highlight regional schools that have proven to be affordable without sacrificing quality in their programs and resources.
