Doximity Releases 2018 Residency Navigator

SAN FRANCISCO, June 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Doximity, the leading social network for physicians and advanced practice clinicians, today released its 2017-2018 Residency Navigator. As the most comprehensive residency program directory available, Residency Navigator empowers medical students to research, compare, and select the program best-suited for their personal medical interests and career goals.

Residency Navigator, built from Doximity's network of more than 70 percent of all U.S. physicians, leverages insights from the largest survey and resume analysis of medical residents and alumni. Approximately 90 percent of graduating fourth-year medical students are Doximity members.

"Choosing a residency program is one of the most significant decisions in a young physician's career.  Residency Navigator is designed to offer students the insights and data they need to identify the residency programs that best fit their personal and career goals," said Nate Gross, M.D., co-founder of Doximity.

In Residency Navigator, medical students can conduct searches for residency programs across categories such as specialty, geography, or hospital type. Once students have narrowed a list they can sort it by: weighted reputation, research output, board pass rates, size of program, or alphabtically.

This year's Residency Navigator includes more than 4,000 residency programs across 28 specialties. Doximity is also introducing new features designed with insight from medical students and program directors across the country. The new features make it easier for medical residents to compare programs and personalize searches, and include:

  • Map View: Residency applicants can now explore national and regional maps with all programs represented as pins.
  • Favorites List: Medical students can create a favorites list to add personal notes about each program as they go through the application interview process.
  • People Like You: Highlights notable alumni such as those who graduated from the searcher's own medical school and attended that residency program, enabling prospective and former residents to network easily on the Doximity platform.

"We've worked closely with medical students and residency programs to bring new interactive features to Residency Navigator, to personalize the residency exploration process and connect trainees with programs that fit the type of physician they'd like to become," concluded Dr. Gross.

Earlier this month, U.S. News & World Report announced a five-year extension of its agreement with Doximity to continue building its online directory of physician profiles powered by Doximity's network of more than 800,000 practicing U.S. healthcare professionals.
