ShareStream Releases New Pick-n-Play Application for Video Learning

ShareStream Education ("ShareStream") announced today the release of a new version of the Pick-n-Play Course Application, the ShareStream application that powers interactive video-based learning and integrates seamlessly with Learning Management Systems (LMSs).  Pick-n-Play now includes an all-new user experience, as well as enhanced functionalities for student engagement.  The product updates are a part of the rollout of ShareStream Next, the next generation of the ShareStream Online Video Platform (OVP) for education.

David Weinstein, ShareStream's CEO, said: "The ShareStream Next version of Pick-n-Play-which combines an intuitive, state-of-art user experience with enhanced functionality for collaborative learning and student-generated content-allows users to find, play and interact with course media content from any device with ease.  The application enables academic institutions to implement flipped classrooms, foster active learning and engage students with streaming media like never before."

The Pick-n-Play Course Application is the primary instructor and student-facing application of the ShareStream Platform, a true campus-wide media management system designed expressly to service-all from a single solution-a wide variety of departments and groups, including:

  • Instructional Technology/Academic Computing

  • Campus Communications.

Highlights of the ShareStream Next version of Pick-n-Play include:

A New User Experience and User nterface

Pick-n-Play has been updated with the ShareStream Next User Experience, which provides an enhanced look and feel, a simplified layout and intuitive navigation.

The application streamlines workflows for typical media-related tasks.  For example, instructors are able to upload, transcode and publish media files to course folders in one simple step; students are able to easily submit video assignments to an instructor for assessment; and all users enrolled in a course are able to efficiently find the media assets for which they have privileges utilizing Pick-n-Play's features for search, filter and sort.

Pick-n-Play's User Interface (UI) is also fully responsive: the application dynamically displays the optimal layout of the Pick-n-Play UI depending on the size of a user's screen, regardless of whether a user accesses Pick-n-Play from a PC, tablet or smartphone.

Enhanced Features for Collaboration and Interactivity
Pick-n-Play bolsters student engagement by facilitating vibrant online discussions regarding course media content.  The application's comments feature, which enables users to post questions and comments and participate in threaded, instructor-mediated discussions with fellow users enrolled in a course, has been enhanced to provide users with the capability to add questions and comments at specific points in a media asset's timeline.

Integration with ShareStream's Capture Solutions for Content Creation
Learners are able to create media content from mobile devices using ShareStream Capture and submit video assignments to instructors for assessment.  From the Media Inbox tab in Pick-n-Play, instructors are able to review, assess and provide feedback to students on media submissions, as well as share student media submissions for collaboration among users enrolled in the course.

Extensive Functionality for Accessibility
ShareStream is deeply committed to building products that are accessible to all users.  In keeping with this core Company value, the new version of Pick-n-Play was designed from the start with accessibility as a top priority and built with a focus on accessibility in every phase of the product development lifecycle.  Key accessibility features include keyboard navigation; an accessible media player; closed captioning; and compatibility with assistive technology, such as screen readers.

Availability and Demonstration
The new version of Pick-n-Play is generally available.  ShareStream will be demonstrating the new version of Pick-n-Play during a series of live webinars.  For more information on these events, including how to register, visit www.sharestream.com.
