Wellness Center in Broward County Offers Free HIV & STD Screenings


A ribbon cutting ceremony will officially open the new location for the Broward Wellness Center on Thursday, July 27 at 9:00am. The public is invited. Broward Wellness Center is a partnership between AHF and Florida Department of Health in Broward County (DOH-Broward) and will offer free Sexually-Transmitted Disease (STD) and HIV testing and screening. Broward Wellness Center is located at 750 SE 3rd Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL, and is open Monday through Friday, 10am to 7pm. No appointment necessary. "We encourage our community to make HIV and STD testing a part of regular medical checkups. The Broward Wellness Center, a partnership between The Florida Department of Health in Broward County and AIDS Healthcare Foundation, will provide even greater access to sexual health services on a walk in basis at no cost," stated Dr. Paula Thaqi, Director, Florida Department of Health in Broward County.

Services offered include: free Chlamydia screening and treatment; free Gonorrhea screening and treatment; free Syphilis screening and treatment and free HIV testing and linkage to HIV primary care.

In its five years of operation, the Broward Wellness Center has provided services to over 100,000 patients since it opened April 2013. At the Wellness Center there are disease intervention specialists from the DOH-Broward who work closely with providers to ensure that clients of the center receive high quality care.
