Ralph Acaba appointed Vice President Program Management Excellence


WALTHAM, Mass., July 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) today announced that Edward Miyashiro, vice president of the Raytheon Company Evaluation Team, is retiring after a 43-year career with the company. Succeeding him is Ralph Acaba, who has been elected a company officer and named vice president, Raytheon Program Management Excellence. Acaba most recently served as vice president of Integrated Air and Missile Defense in the company's Integrated Defense Systems business.

Miyashiro's distinguished career includes leadership roles on key missile programs, including directing all Standard Missile programs and leadin the Naval Weapons Systems product line at Raytheon Missile Systems. He was instrumental in the development of Raytheon's Standard Missile-3 program which has become one of the nation's most reliable family of missiles.



Miyashiro was awarded the Aviation Week Laureate Award for SM-3 and was only the second person from the defense industry to be named an Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense Pathfinder. In 2006, he was named deputy general manager of Raytheon Missile Systems and became an elected officer of Raytheon in 2007.

Acaba, who joined Raytheon in 1986, has held a series of increasingly senior leadership roles in the company, including director of the Patriot Systems business, director of Maneuver Protection Programs, and program manager for the Joint Land Attack Cruise Missile Defense Elevated Netted Sensor program.


Since 2013, he has managed Raytheon's Integrated Air and Missile Defense portfolio, including all aspects of the global Patriot Air and Missile Defense System, Hawk Air Defense System, and National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System business, supporting customers in more than 20 countries.

Acaba received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California, and his master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California.  He will be based at Raytheon headquarters in Waltham, Massachusetts.
