RiskSense CEO to Discuss How Utility Executives Can Protect Critical Infrastructure from AI-Based Cyber Attacks

RiskSense®, Inc., the pioneer in intelligent threat and vulnerability management, today announced that its CEO, Srinivas Mukkamala, Ph.D. will discuss cyber risk challenges and present best practices in the energy sector as part of an expert panel for utility executives at the University of Idaho UEC Summit on Monday, June 25, 2018.

WHO:

Dr. Srinivas Mukkamala, co-founder and CEO of RiskSense, is a recognized expert on artificial intelligence (AI) and neural networks. He was part of a think tank that collaborated with the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Intelligence Community on applying these concepts to cybersecurity problems. Dr. Mukkamala was also a lead researcher for CACTUS (Computational Analysis of Cyber Terrorism against the U.S.) and holds a patent on Intelligent Agents for Distributed Intrusion (News - Alert) Detection System and Method of Practicing.

Moderator: Mike Mertz, Vice President and Chief Information Officer, PNM Resources
Other Panelists:
Chris Hickling, Director, Government Relations, Edison Electric Institute
Mark McGranaghan, Vice President, Integrated Grid, Electric Power Research Institute
Tom O'Brien, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, PJM Interconnection

WHAT:

With sophisticated nation-state attacks and widespread ransomware such as WannaCry exploiting critical infrastructure vulnerabilities, utility executives are struggling to assess and manage their cyber risk exposure. Adding to the challenge, the infrastructure itself is growing in complexity with interconnectedness from smart grids, smart devices, mobile and IoT devices. In this expert panel discussion, Srinivas will discuss how attackers are exploiting system vulnerabilities and maliciously using AI to launch cyber attacks at scale. He will use case study examples to explain how operators are shifting to a new data-driven strategy to prioritize vulnerability remediation efforts and anticipate threats before they can be used to launch attacks.

WHEN:

Monday, June 25, 2018, 3:45-4:45 pm PDT and
Tuesday, June 26, 2018, 11:00 am-Noon PDT

WHERE:

(June 25) Utility Executive Course, J.A. Albertson College of Business, Room 102, 875 Campus Drive, Moscow, Idaho
