Studentreasures Announces Grand Prize, Second Place, and Third Place Winners in 2017-2018 National Book Challenge for Student-Published BooksStudentreasures has announced Mrs. Coniker's student authors from Ellenville Elementary School in Ellenville, New York, as grand prize winners in the National Book Challenge for their book "A World of Math." For submitting the grand prize book, Mrs. Coniker will receive a $5,000 school grant. Additionally, Mrs. Wood's students from Edward H. Bryan Elementary School in Cresskill, New Jersey, have been awarded second place and $1,000 for their book "Who Are We?" Ms. Dooley's students from Blessed Sacrament School in Albany, New York, were named third place winners and will receive $500 for their book "Down in the Deep, Blue Sea." Including 50 finalists announced earlier this week, Studentreasures has awarded $9,000 to winning classrooms as part of this year's National Book Challenge. These teachers and student authors were selected as the top publishers in the one-and-only National Book Challenge based on their books' originality, creative storylines, and colorful illustrations. The contest was open to more than 156,000 books that were submitted for free student publishing this year. "All student-authored books are extremely notable because of the outside-the-box creativity and learning that goes into them, along with the pride and memories that continue long after the project is complete. Every year, we are amazed with the level of creative thinking, illustrating, and writing that goes into the books we publish. These winning books stood out as exceptional, and we are honored to award these students and their teachers with the unique distinction as top student authors in our National Book Challenge," said Chad Zimmerman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Studentreasures. The challenge is open to any classroom that publishes using Studentreasures' free kits. As part of the program and the related #ProudAuthors contest, participants also are eligible for grants and gift card giveaways all year.
