Top-Ranked University of Michigan Ross School of Business Taps Corporate Learning Pioneer to Train Leaders "Follow-Through" Techniques

ANN ARBOR, Mich., July 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The University of Michigan Ross School of Business today announced the release of a 20-week course designed to equip leaders with the tools to learn and execute high-impact leadership principles, including positive leadership, talent management, and follow-through. Delivered through CorpU's pioneering online platform, the program is instructed by top expert Robert Quinn, author of 18 books on leadership subjects and co-founder of the Center for Positive Organizations, and requires daily practice to create rapid change in leadership behavior.

"The positive leadership content delivered on CorpU's platform makes learning a daily habit so that we are constantly reminded of the type of leaders we aspire to be," said Chester Kustarz, Vice President of Engineering at DUO Security. "The format and low cost makes it easy to scale leadership development across the organization."

Designed to translate academic concepts into practice, CorpU's unique approach to enterprise learning draws upon a body of research that suggests traditional leadership development methods are sub-optimal in creating impactful, lasting change on their own. Dr. Robert Brinkerhoff, internationally recognized evaluation and learning effectiveness expert, published a study that examined the lasting effect of learning and found that 15 percent of people don't try a new concept after they learn it; 80 percent try, but fail or give up; and only 15 percent of leaders who go through training actually succeed in enabling permanent change in traditional learning settings.

By unbundling traditinal courses into short, five-minute courses delivered online over a 20-week period, Michigan Ross and CorpU enable busy executives to practice new strategies on a consistent basis, which increases the long-term effectiveness of learning. To heighten personalization and the likelihood of real-world application, participants are then prompted to share reactions with their cohort and engage in structured dialogue about how the lesson is relevant to specific organizational challenges.

"For decades, traditional corporate training has failed to deliver on the promise of meaningful, measurable change," said Alan Todd, CEO of CorpU. "Participants of this course learn how to take the small steps — practicing principles and embedding new behavior every day — that can serve as a "booster shot" after training, and lead to tangible improvements across the organization."

In conjunction with the release of Michigan Ross' new program, CorpU has built new software features that encourage and measure follow-through and execution. Calls to action will enable more platform-based coaching, paving the way for a richer learning experience and increased dedication to eliminating unproductive habits.
