#WithIt Movement Seeks to End Ageism

PISCATAWAY, N.J., Nov. 14, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Parker, a non-for-profit, aging services provider in New Jersey, has launched the #WithIt Movement in the hopes of putting an end to ageism – the last "ism" that our society unknowingly embraces.

The #WithIt Movement looks at aging as beautiful. It's a positive way to think about getting older, encouraging all of us to drop our biases and open ourselves up to shared experiences and society.

"Our culture no longer appreciates or accepts the aging process or those who are aging. In fact, our society often fears aging," says Parker President & CEO, Roberto Muñiz. "Parker's Second Annual Aging in America Survey shows that Millennials and Gen Xers are nearly twice as likely as members of the Baby Boomer and Silent generations to consider people "old" by the time they hit their 70s. It's time to reverse this thinking."

This movement highlights stories of people who are #WithIt – meaning they are embracing aging and taking action to celebrate their lives at every stage.

A new website: WeAreWithIt.org has tools for people to use in their own organizations  that will better help them to adopt the aging process, a sign-up page to stay informed as the movement grows, and many stories of people who are living inspiring lives at every age.

"This movement is bigger than Parker. Yes, we inspired it, but we're hoping other people will join us to make the #WithIt Movement spread," adds Muñiz.
