STRAWS Film Screening In Schools Campaign Announces Partnership with 1% for the Planet


The Schools Screening Campaign of STRAWS, an award-winning documentary that highlights the devastating levels of straws and other plastic pollution in our waterways and oceans, is the newest nonprofit partner of 1% for the Planet. 1% for the Planet is an alliance of more than 1,500 business members in over 45 countries that donate the equivalent of 1% of sales through a combination of monetary, in-kind, and approved advertising contributions.. As a non-profit partner, the STRAWS campaign can now receive donations from member companies that have funneled over $200 million to date to a diverse, global network of environmental nonprofit partners.

Since the announcement, the campaign has already received two funding partnerships from 1% for the Planet members: Plaine Products and The Evolved Traveler. The STRAWS film Screening In Schools Campaign intends to deploy donations to educate and inspire up to 250,000 youths aross the U.S. through free and low-cost screenings of the film and expert speakers.



Linda Booker, STRAWS producer and director commented, "As a filmmaker, one of the greatest privileges I've experienced is witnessing young people watch STRAWS and get excited to protect marine animals from plastic pollution."
