Six L.A.-Based Artists to Headline AR:t Gallery at the Inaugural In.flux Reality Mixer, along with Immersive Technology Experiences from Occidental College

The In.flux Lab, a creative technology collective, today revealed an impressive lineup of six L.A.-based artists that will showcase their work at the inaugural The In.flux Reality Mixer, taking place on Saturday, Dec. 1. Attendees will experience a blend of paintings, posters, virtual narratives and AR animations in the AR:t Gallery, a first-of-its-kind installation. Immersive technology simulations from partners including Occidental College complement the VR and AR art experiences.

The AR:t Gallery will showcase how VR, AR, and AI are forging new opportunities for storytelling, art, and human connection, featuring physical and digital works from:

  • Nancy Baker Cahill - Creator of the 4thWall AR app, which brings users directly into her studio
  • Zenka & Yosun Chang - The futurist meets hacker duo debuting Infinity Mirrors, a collaborative piece that blends real mirrors with AR
  • Miles Regis - A Trinidadian-born artist whose work The Music Peace uses vibrating, kinetic, auric electronic beats
  • Kevin Mack - A pioneer of virtual art, computer graphics and visual effects like Anandala
  • Nicole McDonald - An award-winning writer and director who dreams-up extraordinary ways to experience stories including Free The Night

The AR:t Gallery will open from 2pm - 10pm, and Reality Mixer guests are invited to explore the works at their own pace. In addition to the artwork, attendees can play in guided immersive experiences from partners including the Occidental College Center for Digital Liberal Arts:

  • Team up with a fox to find and restore the shattered moon in Moonbloom, a narrative-driven Magic Leap experience
  • Flex their detective and linguistic skills to solve a crime in Mandarin Murder Mystery, a VR language-learning sim
  • Step into a zoologist's shoes with Bird's Eye View, the world's largest virtual ornithology lab

"We've curated a variety of immersive experiences, from a Magic Leap sim that weaves players into an emotional story, to an AR app that literally brings you into an artist's studio, to an ingenious - and maybe a little insidious - VR game that helps you learn Mandarin," said Tameka Kee, Founder and Creative Director of The In.flux Lab. "With perspectives from across different genders, races and even disciplines, we're excited to provide a platform for people to plug into such a diverse array of mixed reality art and media."
