Vizient Employees Complete 8,000 Hours of Community Service during Annual Event

Employees from Vizient, Inc. completed 8000 hours of community service hours as part of the company's 16th annual Community Day event held on Oct. 16. The event included 75 sites, in 42 cities in 19 states.

Included in this year's 75 sites were food banks, city parks and homeless shelters as well as projects serving children and adults with special needs. Volunteers also assisted in Florida with ongoing cleanup efforts after Hurricane Michael. Across all project sites, Vizient employees were able to assist a diverse population and work with each agency to address their specific needs. Another way we see this contribution is through economic impact. The independent sector rates the impact of volunteering at a little over $24 per hour. That means Vizient made a positive impact totaling $197,939 for the communities served in a single day.

"At Vizient, service is tremendously valued. We think of service as diligently meeting the needs of others, whether that is the needs of one of our member hospitals or the needs of the communities where we live and work. This year, our employees have already logged over 19,000 volunteer hours - that's more than ever before," said Colleen Risk, chief people officer for Vizient. "There's something about volunteering that brings out a different side in people. We love to tap into that potential here at Vizient."
