Tortoise Introduces New Independent Board Members


Tortoise, a specialized investment firm making an impact through essential assets investing, today announced that Mr. Brad Hilsabeck has joined as an independent member of the board of directors for Tortoise Investments.

Mr. Hilsabeck joins current board members Jeffrey Lovell, Robert Belke and Brad Armstrong with Lovell Minnick Partners and H. Kevin Birzer and Gary Henson with Tortoise.

"He brings a wealth of experience having led a multi-asset class investment firm where they served sophisticated institutional clients."

During Mr. Hilsabeck's 32-year investment management career, he most recently served for 14 years at Grantham Mayo Van Otterloo & Co. LLC (GMO), a global investment advisory firm with approximately $100 billion of assets under management at the time of his retirement in 2016.

Mr. Hilsabeck was a partner of GMO and held a variety of key positions at GMO, including most recently Chief Executive Officer and member of the GMO Board of Directors. Mr. Hilsabeck earned a Bacelor of Arts degree in business administration from Westminster College in Fulton, Mo.



Tortoise also added Ms. Jennifer Paquette to Tortoise's closed-end fund board of directors, replacing retiring board member Chuck Heath. She joined independent board members Rand Berney, Conrad Ciccotello and Alexandra Herger and H. Kevin Birzer with Tortoise.

Ms. Paquette most recently served as chief investment officer at the Public Employee's Retirement Association of Colorado, a public employee retirement plan with a $44 billion investment portfolio at the time of her retirement. Ms. Paquette joined the organization in 1995 and served as chief investment officer from 2003 until her retirement in 2017. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College and a Master of Science degree from the London School of Economics. She is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Colorado. She is a former member of the PCAOB Standing Advisory Board. Ms. Paquette currently serves on a number of non-profit boards including the Samaritan Institute.
