An appraisal at maturity level 3 indicates that the organization is performing at a "defined" level.  A CMMI level 3 rating indicates that processes are well characterized and understood, and are described in IGS' standards, procedures, tools, and methods.  IGS' set of standard processes, the basis for maturity level 3 rating, has been established and will then be improved over time.
