The Economist to Host Third Annual Impact Investing Conference in New York

Now that impact investing has moved from the fringes of the investment world to the focus of many strategies, the debate surrounding socially responsible investing is changing. Investors are no longer asking why they should embrace a purpose-driven portfolio and instead want to know how. Toward that end, The Economist Events is pleased to announce its third U.S. "Investing for Impact" conference, to be held in New York City on February 12, 2019.

Moderated by Economist editors and other experts, "Investing for Impact: Leading for the Long Haul?" will examine the risks and returns of impactful investment strategies. The one-day summit - which will take place at 10 on the Park at Time Warner (News - Alert) Center in Columbus Circle in Manhattan - will generate informative, actionable information on the nuances of impact investing, presented by leading investors, corporate executives, entrepreneurs, social activists, policymakers and philanthropists.

The event will include panel discussions, fireside chats, debates, interviews and personal impact stories from world-renowned organizations and leading institutions. Topics to be discussed include: How to make impact investing the most profitable way to invest; what are the intangible aspects of investing for impact; how companies can better manage their natural, human, and social capital; the pros and cons of widespread divestment; and how technology will affect impact investing.

"There has never been a greater need for thoughtful debate on impact investing," said Helen Joyce, finance editor, The Economist. "As impact investing has evolved, the debate has shifted from whether investors can use their capital to contribute to the greater good to how investors can achieve even greater results - both for causes that are meaningful to them and their portfolios."
