DataStax was evaluated against more than a dozen other vendors offering graph solutions.

DataStax earned its rating on the strength of DSE Graph, which, as part of DataStax Enterprise (DSE), allows businesses to derive powerful insights from highly-connected data while incorporating all the enterprise-class capabilities of a distributed, always-on database, including continuous availability; linear scalability; advanced security; analytics and enterprise search; visual management and monitoring; and development tools.

The Bloor "Graph Database Market Update, 2019" report examined graph database solutions from 14 vendors categorized as providing analytics, multi-model or hybrid offerings, with DSE Graph positioned as a multi-model database solution. Bloor used eight different scoring dimensions to evaluate the vendors, including analytics, ease of use, features, integration, language, operations, performance and scalability.

"Graph databases serve complex applications that involve multiple, complex relationships, but by itself, a graph database can only do so much," said Philip Howard, Research Director, Bloor Research and co-author of the Bloor report. "DataStax's DSE Graph solution provides not only the graph database, but also the features of its DSE distributed database, including continuous availability, hybrid cloud deployment, scalability, and other features, thanks to the integration between its components."

Bloor also featured DSE Graph in a special separate report that quoted two DSE customers-Elementum and Babylon Health.

For Elementum, DSE was a choice for innovation: "DSE's scalability and analytics capabilities provide us what we need to not only analyze every aspect of the supply chain, but also bring new innovations to market."

For Babylon Health, it came down to customer outcomes. Mohammad Khodadadi, Director of Data at Babylon Health said, "Graph analytics is great for showing relationships between data points, and this can be very valuable in a healthcare scenario. By looking at data in different ways within the same platform, we can support more in-depth interactions with patients and improve healthcare outcomes."

"Graph databases enable our enterprise customers to realize additional value from the relationships in their data. With graph they can more effectively tackle critical, complex use cases including fraud detection and prevention, Customer 360 capabilities, loyalty and personalized recommendations for their applications," said Robin Schumacher, SVP and Chief Product Officer, DataStax. "We are pleased to see Bloor covering this important, emerging solution to modern data challenges and to be recognized in the report as a Champion."
