CareDox and PowerSchool Announce Partnership to Improve Pediatric Health Services in K-12 Schools

ATLANTA and NEW YORK, Feb. 21, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- CareDox, the nation's largest provider of healthcare software and services for K-12 school districts, today announced a new partnership with PowerSchool, a leading provider of K-12 education technology solutions, to help improve access to in-school health services across the country. PowerSchool will integrate CareDox's digital consent technology with PowerSchool Unified Administration Enrollment, making it easier for parents to consent to CareDox's health services for the 2019-2020 school year. The PowerSchool platform is currently used by 45 million students in over 70 countries throughout the world.

CareDox and PowerSchool Partnership

"Our nation's school districts are on the front lines of pediatric healthcare and are faced with a myriad of challenges year after year, whether it be managing the rise in chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes, and mental health issues among students, or helping keep the student population protected from the inevitable peak of flu season," said Tony Boselli, President of CareDox. "Together, CareDox and PowerSchool are making it easier for parents to take advantage of new and existing in-school wellness services that can help keep students, schools and communities healthier."

The first planned integration between PowerSchool and CareDox will allow for seamless enrollment in CareDox's flu shot clinics in participating school districts where PowerSchool is implemented. By integrating CareDox enrollment forms with Registration, parents of participating districts will be able to consent to an in-school flu shot as they are completing other critical medical and enrollment forms online ahead of the new school year.

According to the CDC, last year was the worst flu season on record, with an estimated 79,000 deaths, including 185 children. In order to help protect their districts from flu, more than 7100 school districts nationwide partner with CareDox to bringwellness services, including flu shot clinics, directly into the schools. In fact, CareDox is the largest in-school flu vaccine provider in the country, having administered nearly 1 million flu vaccines since 2012.

Further, by building an API that connects Enrollment and CareDox's flu shot consent portal, districts will be given a new level of visibility into their existing health programs. For example, districts will be able to see in real time the number of students who have enrolled in upcoming flu clinics. CareDox will also capture all pertinent student flu clinic enrollment information to ensure accurate on-site student consent data during flu clinics and for submission to the state medical departments, per state requirements.

"As CareDox continues its rapid expansion to new districts in new states, it is increasingly important to partner with market leaders like PowerSchool to ensure that pediatric health technology and services are truly integrated into a district's overall student services programs and processes," said Boselli.

"At PowerSchool, we continue to build out our platform and capabilities with value-added partnerships with leading companies like CareDox," said Mike Rhein, senior vice president of sales for PowerSchool. "Our partnership with CareDox will add valuable, health-related enrollment options to our platform for districts and deliver an intuitive health services registration process for parents."
